BIGGEST BASS
#1
ALRIGHT HERE IS ONE OF MY WORST OR BEST DAYS OF FISHING DEPENDING ON HOW YOU LOOK AT IT. iT WAS MID FEBUARY COLDER THAN HECK AND THE WATER WAS 34 DEGREES. MY FISHING BUDDY AND I DECIDE WHAT THE HECK LETS GO SEE IF WE CAN CATCH SOME BASS. WELL MY WIFE (GIRL FRIEND AT THE TIME) WANT TO GO SO WE TOOK HER. WE WERE SITTING IN THE BOAT SUROUNDED BY STICKUPS. THE WIFE HAD A BLACK AND SILVER CULPRIT WORM ON HER POLE SHE WAS JUST THROWING IN THE SAME SPOT OVER AND OVER. THICK SHE WAS ALITTLE COLD AND DIDN'T WANT OT BE THERE. WE WERE JUST ABOUT TO LEAVE WHEN SHE SAID I'M HUNG UP, SO I TOOK HER PULL AND GAVE IT A JERK AND IT JERK BACK ALITTLE. SO I GAVE IT BACK TO HER AND TOLD HER YOU GOTTA FISH REEL IT IN. SHE SARTED REELING IT WASN'T PUTTING UP MUCH OF A FIGHT SO I CAST BACK OUT . THEN SHE SAYA I GOT IT TO THE BOAT COME AND GET IT. I TURN AROUND AND THERE WAS THE BIGGEST BASS I EVER SAW. I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO SWALLOW THE OUT BOARD. I YELLED MIKE GET THE NET THEN REACHED DOWN TO LIP IT IT SHOOK ITS HEAD AND OUT COME THE HOOK. I ABOUT STARTED TO CRY. THE WIFE SAYS WAS THAT A BIG ONE . MY PARTNER WHO IS ABOUT 20 YEARS OLDER THAN I ALSO SAW IT AND SAID IT WAS WAS BIGGER THAN ANY THING THAT HE'S EVER CAUGHT (HIS BIGGEST 9+#'S) OK HERE'S THE WORST PART THE MIKE AND MYSELF FEEL THE SHE LOST A POTENTIAL STATE RECORD BASS WHICH FOR KANSAS IS JUST UNDER 12#'S. THE BEST PART IS I'VE SEEN IT AND I KNOW IT'S IN THERE. I DID LEARN ONE THING THAT IS MY NET IS ALWAYS OUT AND WITHIN REACH FROM THAT DAY ON. I NEVER PUT IT AWAY WHEN I'M DONE FISHING FOR THE DAY I JUST PUT IT IN THE FLOOR OF THE BOAT. WHEN I GO WITH MIKE IT'S THE FIRST THING HE GETS OUT. [Smile][Sad]

Good Story, thanks for the post. It never fails that a person who does not fish a lot catches the most or biggest fish!

That story reminds me of one I heard up in Jackson Hole back in the '80s about a fly fishing guide who had a married couple and their young daughter for clients one day drifting the Snake river. The parents were fly fishing but they gave the litte girl one of these little kids rods with a closed face reel on it and some kind of spinner on the line so she could play around and feel like she was fishing too. Well the fishing was good and the guide was busy helping the parents land their fish but the girl kept getting snagged and the guide was getting tired of unhooking her line. So the next time the girl said she had a fish the guide seeing her rod doubled over figured it was just a snag and ignored her until she reeled in a 6 1/2 lb trout. Which at the time was the biggest ever landed on his boat.
