ATHENS RESIDENT APPOINTED TO SUPERVISORY POSITION WITH THE ODNR DIVISION OF FORESTRY

COLUMBUS, OH - Athens County resident Dan Kincaid was recently named private lands and nursery administrator for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Forestry.

A career forester, Kincaid has spent nearly half his professional life in Ohio, working for the USDA Forest Service as a ranger in the Wayne National Forest on the Marietta, Ironton and Athens units. He has also been assigned to national forests in Georgia, Minnesota, North Carolina and West Virginia, and has worked as a regional Forest Service liaison in support of state forestry programs.

Most recently, Kincaid was with the West Virginia Division of Forestry where he served as deputy state forester and assistant state forester for special projects. His responsibilities there included oversight of the Clements State Tree Nursery, near Point Pleasant, WV.

Kincaid holds a bachelor's degree in forest management from West Virginia University and a master's degree in forestry from Duke University. He is a former chairman of the Ohio Society of American Foresters and was recognized as an outstanding member in 1988 and as communicator of the year in 1990. He was elected a fellow of the Society of American Foresters in 1991.
