Northeastern Nevada *** June 10th Report ***(NDOW)
#1
[#006666]Northeastern Nevada
[/#006666][#000000]For the weekend of June 7, 2003[/#000000]

[#990033]WILDHORSE RESERVOIR[/#990033]
With the April/May rains, water level has improved dramatically from 25% of capacity to almost 50 % of capacity, allowing the resumption of trout stocking that had been halted due to low water levels.

The state park boat ramp is in the water and should be useable through the end of June.

The catfish have been biting with a party of three anglers catching 22 fish with a total weight of over 200 lbs. Minnow patterns or earthworms fished near the bottom where the creeks enter the lake or in deep water near the dam are the hot spots. Trout fishing has been spotty with anglers catching trout with powerbait or worms one day, while the next day is slow. Perch fishing will pick up as the water warms. Bass fishing has also been sporadic with most of the usual bass habitat being out of the water. Bass must be released until July 1st.
[#990033]SOUTH FORK RESERVOIR[/#990033]
Trout fishing is slow to fair, with fly fishers doing okay. The midge and damsel hatches are on and a black midge tied on a #10 or #12 streamer hook is working well. The best fishing appears to be with night crawlers trolled behind flashers. Bass fishing is relatively slow. All bass must be released immediately into the water until July 1st.
[#990033]WILSON RESERVOIR[/#990033]
Wilson Reservoir probably has the best fishing in northeastern Nevada right now. The spillway is still spilling and trout anglers are doing well with green power bait. Limits of fish are being caught regularly with fish up to 20 inches. Bass fishing is slow but will pick up as the water warms up.
[#990033]CRITTENDON RESERVOIR[/#990033]
Crittendon is full of water with the fishing varying from day to day. Fly fisherman are having the most luck and with the long drive from Elko, there aren’t many anglers on the water.
[#990033]DORESY RESERVOIR[/#990033]
Plenty of water and has been stocked. Fishing has been good with power bait. The reservoir is expected to be dry by late July so please keep any fish you catch up to the legal limit
