* * * HAPPY THANKSGIVING * * *

Fishing on the Columbia is about as dead as it gets. Very little effort for sturgeon but steelhead fishing is good but not so much in the mainstem as the John Day Arm itself.

Crabbing remains WHITE HOT on the lower Columbia but commercial crabbers go in on 11/28 so plan on a drastic reduction in crabbing success on the lower river.

Overall, a very productive week in the Tillamook District for chinook salmon. Driftboaters scored big results last weekend but the weather forecast could put a damper on that for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Chinook will continue to be available on the Kilchis and Wilson Rivers but most anglers will follow tradition and focus their efforts on winter steelhead. The Kilchis, Wilson, Nestucca, North Fork Nehalem, Necanicum and Three Rivers will all see steelhead in the next several weeks.

Watch for late returning coho that must be released as they too will show up in the mix. Crabbing in the Tillamook District is shot due to large amounts of fresh water.

The ocean does open up on 12/1 but the weather will keep most recreational crabbers in front of the TV watching football!
