Don’t be a big dip, use “The Ice Dipper”
#1
Ice Fishing Tip #26

A long handled (12-30 inches) shallow greitel looking device perforated with holes to provide for drainage.

Although the ice dipper is not a hi-tech tool it is one of comfort that every Ice Fisherman will keep at his immediate disposal.

This tool is the second most commonly used tool when it comes to the sport of ice fishing (next to the fishing pole). It is used first when opening your hole to remove ice shaving and ice chips left behind in the hole after drilling or spudding your hole. Then used through out the event to clear any ice that forms on top of your hole as the lake continues to try to re-close it self by refreezing.

Every one wants a clean hole to fish out of, it makes it a whole lot more enjoyable if you can just plop your jig in the hole and not have to wiry about getting through the slush that builds up on top of the ice.

Quite often I have seen the dipper used as a landing net for pan fish, relieving stress off the not of the jig or hook.

In a pinch the dipper can be used to retrieve a minnow from the minnow bucket.

At the end of the day the dipper is a handy tool for scooping up your fish. (A real back saver)

http://myweb.ecomplanet.com/MESS6438/
Lookie See what the kids are up to.
Dave T. Clown
