Well at least it wasn't a wasted trip. How far north did you fish? Fire Hole is usually where the first ice is.

Next week, with lows in the sub zero range, should put a hard cap in the northern reaches. Who knows, maybe safe ice to the confluence in two weeks.

I was up on the Utah side today and the water temp was 43 degrees.

Looks like we will probably have 5 days in a row soon with highs in the low teens and lows averaging around 0 (anywhere from 7 to -7). Let's just hope the wind doesn't blow during that time.
