The shark that didn't get away! - releaseit - 02-13-2004 A wobbegong shark remains attached to the leg of Australian snorkeler Luke Treslogavic after it attacked him off Caves Beach north of Sydney, February 11, 2004. Treslogavic, 22, could not remove the 60 centimeter (two foot) long shark, which had clamped its jaw around his leg, and was forced to swim to shore and then drive to a nearby surf lifesaving club to have the creature removed. Wobbegong sharks can grow up to three meters (10 feet) long and have minute razor-like teeth. The shark, unique to Australian waters, is also known as the carpet shark due to its color. I thought that was funny! The little shark is known to be moody and have a short temper![laugh][laugh] He or she put 90 tiny tooth marks on the guys leg. After removing the shark from the guys leg, the poor thing died. What's with that?! Was the guy poisionous or.......? JapanRon [signature] Re: [JapanRon] The shark that didn't get away! - tubeN2 - 02-13-2004 He was called the Sculpin Man. I guess the guy had more poison than what the poor little shark could handle. He would of had to breath at some point.[/size] [size 2] The diver is luck his blood in the water did not attract other bigger sharks that might of taken a bigger bite.[shocked][/size] [size 2] Like a Great White![pirate][/size] [size 2][/size] [signature] Re: [releaseit] The shark that didn't get away! - tubeN2 - 02-13-2004 they do have plenty of Great Whites in Australia too. He could have called up a whole fleet of them. [signature] Re: [tubeN2] The shark that didn't get away! - releaseit - 02-13-2004 They say a shark can smell 1 drop of blood up to a mile away! Luckily he got out of water fast enough. I once witnessed a five foot angel shark apply the same munch technique on a diver's leg over at Catalina. [/size][/blue] [blue][size 1]The guy had grabbed the bottom dwelling shark by the tail and it just twisted around and returned the favor. Only problem was, the teeth were long enough that they lacerated a major blood vessel in the leg and the guy just about bled out before they got him to Avalon medical treatment.[/size][/blue] [#0000ff][size 1]I have both caught them on fishing tackle and shot them with spear guns...usually thinking I was shooting a halibut. They lay covered in the sand and all you see is the eyes...just like a big 'but.[/size][/#0000ff] [#0000ff][size 1]Don't think I would like even a small one attached to my anatomy.[/size][/#0000ff] [signature] Re: [TubeDude] The shark that didn't get away! - aquaman - 02-14-2004 do you guys watch surviver on the the guys pulled a shark out from under a rock and it swung around and clamped on his arm they had to beat it with a rock to get it to let go the funny thing was the yokel was swimming naked he's lucky it didn't clamp down in his nether area [signature] Re: [aquaman] The shark that didn't get away! - TubeDude - 02-14-2004 [cool][blue][size 1]I'm not a big fan of the "reality" shows. But, I would have liked to see some dimbulb get what he deserved. Too bad you didn't get to see the serrated circumcision. Although that might be too much reality. OUCH. [/size][/blue] [signature] Re: [TubeDude] The shark that didn't get away! - tubeN2 - 02-14-2004 It's nice to know that there are so many toothy species at Catalina. I am headed out there on Monday. Plan to do an all day adventure and return with as many of my own body parts as I can. Maybe even a fish or two.
