I was up there this passed Sunday checking a few places out. Fish lake had no ice. Was very windy and lake was choppy. I feel with the loot could cap anytime here soon with the temps. Otter creek had very little ice. But was starting to form around the damn and inlets on the south end. Might have enough to fish by end of this cold temp week but forecast is warmer next week.

Although ice is just starting on the lake the marinas are frozen so there is also no boat launching.

How thick is the ice in the marinas' ?? Traditionally, Fish Lake has lots of wind, which keeps the main lake from freezing till mid January !!

As of noon today, 80% of the lake has a very thin layer of ice. One windy day, though, and that ice is gone. Typically, Fish Lake freezes around New Year's.

Go ahead spill the beans- it froze up back on Thanksgiving. Lake Powell will likely be capped by New Years day as well.[laugh]
