The springer season is starting to wind down on the lower Clearwater and Snake Rivers, there are still some fish moving but the best fishing is now on the upper Clearwater, Snake and Salmon Rivers-this fishery will hold up for several weeks. Methods include fishing K-fish (sardine wrap) while anchored or backtrolled, fishing roe behind a diver or drifting and back bouncing if water conditions allow, as well as fishing helmeted or plug cut herring. The South Fork of the Clearwater is a bank fishing game with spinners and roe being the best and most popular methods.
