How to save your soft plastic baits - Bassmaster-ND - 07-03-2004

Hey guys,

I recently figured out a great way to save your worms, tubes, and other plastic baits. If you use plastics you probably know after you catch a bass your soft plastic bait is pretty mangelled. Such problems include the hook ripping through the top part of the bait etc.

HERE'S THE FIX: [red]Carefully[/red] take a lighter and put the flame on the ripped part of the bait for a few moments untill it melts back together.

Then your bait is as good as new. This is a money saver!! You can get the use your baits to the fullest!!

Best of luck to you[cool]

good tip, now all you have to do is convince me that my boat moter wont blow up when I light that match! [shocked]

I dont smoke in the boat for that vary reason. actualy that was how I quit smoking, I just sat in the boat more. I no longer had the need for the stimulation. now I seldom ever cary a match.

have you had any luck in welding back together any plastics that were ripped in half? most of my fish encounters result in the total distruction of my plastics. ocationaly I will end up with two peices, but for the most part the fish gets a peice of my plastic.

I tried welding back together a senko that was ripped in half and I got it back together but it did not have the same action. But plastics that are just ripped in places work just fine.

I've heard that Gorilla Glue works wonders also.

Of course, you could always skip the regular plastics and go with the cyberplastics. Those things stretch like crazy and don't get damaged. They're like a Stretch Armstrong toy made for fish!
