Snakehead Fingerlings Found In Potomac River System

RICHMOND, VA—The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (DGIF) announced last week that a juvenile northern snakehead was collected from Dogue Creek in Fairfax County-the first fingerling snakehead ever found in the river.

Biologists say the 3-inch fingerling is likely the result of a mid-summer spawn, which suggests that a northern snakehead population is now established in the Potomac River system.

This one is scary considering the visciousness of these things. There's stories of Muskies attacking people once in a long while here. These things are much more ferocious. I wouldn't want to swim in the waters over there! And ti will definitely be detrimental to the natural fish.

snakeheads definitely aren't cool fish, what with being able to move water systems and all. Hopefully the fingerlings were euthanized.

Possibly they should place a small bounty on snakeheads??? Might help people kill them.
