Rod wraping and drying motors - bigpapafish - 08-13-2005 Hi I've been reading some old posts on this board and there were a few questions about motors for rod wraping and drying. I've never built a rod so I'm not sure about rpms needed for either. I'd guess 1-10 rpms for drying and 20-60 rpms for wraping? Maybe someone can clue me in. But anyway here is a link for motors, ac/dc and all kinds of other stuff. Look at inline gearmotors. Low rpm low hp motors from $3-$20. Maybe these will work. It works fine for me.Some builders like faster, like up to around 60 RPM. [shocked] I get a visual of finish flying all over the walls at that speed! But they say it works... The drier on my PacBay Rodsmith turns about the same speed, 6 RPM or thereabouts. Wrapping motors are usually a sewing machine motor with foot pedal for speed control. Not sure of exact RPM, but they'll generally max out WAY faster than anyone can guide thread. [cool] Fishslayer [signature] |
