Palisades? - bodine11 - 04-09-2006

Does anyone know the condition of paliSades. Is the ice still covering the whole res. when do you think it will break off? I would like to get up there as soon as ice off. Thanks

I haven’t been to PaliSades lately. Hopefully someone else that has up to date info will be able to answer your question. I would guess that most of the reservoir is still covered with ice. There is probably some open water by the inlets on the east end of the reservoir. You might be able to launch a boat at the Alpine ramp but I don’t know if you can launch a large boat off a trailer at the Alpine ramp when the reservoir is low.
I would guess that the ice will come off the PaliSades next week or the week after that.
Good luck if you get out.

Looks to me like they are ramping the flows up on the South Fork and lowering the PaliSades getting ready for the run-off. I think it was 9,500 CFS or close to yesterday.

I have been told that there are Lake trout there. Does anyone fish for them? The up and down water must keep their numbers low. Today I was told that it is still frozen shore to shore except for a small spot in front of the dam.

Welcome to the forum Kentd71. PaliSades does have Lake Trout, and they are few and far between. I have not fished for them personaly maybe someone else who has more experience can give you some information.

Re: [bodine11] Palisades? - EZOP - 05-07-2006

We have started to cut back on flows out of the dam. This morning it was releasing 14,000cfs, but since then we have cut it down to 12,500cfs. I believe that by next week it will be at 10,000cfs and the lake might turn around and start to fill slowly, unless of course the runoff picks up faster.

Thanks for the info and welcome onboard. I sure would like to see paliSades fill and stay there awhile. It was very good fishing 8 years ago. would be nice to see it that way again.
