Balsa wood - vinny1957 - 07-16-2006

Looking for a inexpensive place online for balsa wood. Went to a local rail-road hobby shop (only they had the larger pieces) and it cost me $20.00 for 6 pieces 12" long each, 4- 1/2 x 3 and 2- 2 x 3. I thought that was kind a high. Any ideas?
Thanks.

[cool][#0000ff]I actually use inexpensive pine dowels for a lot of my homemade lures. I have never liked working with balsa, even for floaters. It is too soft and easily damaged.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Basswood is a traditional wood preferred by many do-it-yourselfers. You can find that in lots of places.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]For both balsa and basswood, you can try JANN'S NETCRAFT . This is a link to their wood lure making page. They even have preformed lure bodies for you to add hooks and paint. Good stuff and saves a lot of time.[/#0000ff]
