Kentucky Lake & Lake Barkley - malcolm - 06-28-2001

Whitebass fishing is great. The whitebass are not in the jumps yet but are being
caught in large numbers on Roostertails along the mainlake drop-offs. Some nice
catches are coming on jigging spoons such as the Sidewinder. When the current is
running the fish are very aggressive. They are feeding on the willow fly hatches. The
whites are running good size and they are excellent table fair. The bigger largemouths
are being caught on Carolina rigged plastic worms along the main lake drop offs.
Most are being caught at 10' to 12'. Some smaller largemouths are coming from the
deeper points using deep running crankbaits. Smallmouth are spotty in Kentucky
Lake. Small jig/pork combinations and short Carolina rigged worms are catching
some nice size smallmouth on the deeper drops. Catfish have slowed in both the big
lakes but there are some very nice fish being caught below Kentucky Dam on
cutbait. Bluegill are good around the bridges and docks early and late. Crickets and
meal worms are the best baits. There has been very little crappie activity to report.

TIP: When the current is slow move closer to the dams. The more current present
the better whitebass and largemouth will hit in the main lake.

BITS AND PIECES: "Nothing is a waste of time if you use the experience wisely."
Rodin

www.kentuckylakebarkley.com
