Recommended reel for...... - DrownedDesertRat - 03-12-2003 Hey, all you smart people out there! Well, at least you experienced fisher-people. What reel would you suggest for catching large carp and cats? I'm talkin' the monsters. That's my goal this year. I'm lookin' for something preferably no more than $60 since I am on a tight budget. I would strongly sugest a 30 lb class large eyed spinning rod for these fish and dont forget your cow bell [] [signature] Re: [DrownedDesertRat] Recommended reel for...... - lonehunter - 03-22-2003 if your ever at a yardsale or flea market and see a garcia - mitchell #306 , pick it up ! i've had one for over 30 years , it's still operates like brand new . i even mount it to my bow for bow fishing for carp and gar pike , one strong tuff reel . salmon , muskey , an old tire - no sweat ! for a bait casting reel an ocean city 923 , also an old reel , just fantastic ! I used an old black one for years and love it so well I bought a new one this year. I spool them with 20 lb spiderline supermono. I also use it below the local dam for those big 20 lb stripers. Good luck with whatever you like. [signature] |
