Anybody ever fish for walleyes at this place? This once was the site of Utah state record smallie six pound 12 ounce. I understand its on Ute Indian reservation, and you buy a special license to fish that place. How much is the license, and how good is the walleye fishing?

I have fished Lake Borham a lot when I lived in Roosevelt. There may be Walleye as the waaater comes from Starvation. There are a lot of browns and small mouth. You do need an Indian Lic, and a permit for a boat.

how is the brown fishing in it? i have never been there and never found it on any map. i usually try to hit the ouray res once a year for fishing on odds and ends ponds and lakes in the back country. how did i go past this one? hmmmm. any info would be great.

This is not the same lake as Bottle Hollow. That lake is visible from highway 40 in Fort Duchesne (not Duchesne). I'll try to give directions, but they may just be confusing. The lake used to be State. It was Lake Borham then. The state gave back some land to the UTE Tribe that included the lake. They renamed it Midview. This is the time of year that Alan (current Smallmouth record holder) starts fishing the lake. His wife says he doesn't even bother bringing any home to cook unless they are about 4lbs. or more. I know he uses crawdad brown tubes and around a 2/0 hook. He showed me the jigs, but I don't know how he is rigging beyond that. He also told me that the lake is almost without structure, so you have to find the small depressions out in the lake to find the big guys.
Follow Highway 40 out of Duchesne towards Roosevelt. Somewhere around 15-20 miles you will cross a bridge and come up on a sign for Bridgeland. Turn left towards Bridgeland. I haven't taken this road so I'm not sure how far it is to the metal bridge from the turn. Cross the metal bridge and take the next right. As you get to the top of the hill, you will see Midview out to your right. I know that they are planning work on this bridge, but I don't know when.
Here is a second way in case the bridge is out.
On highway 40 as you are just leaving Duchesne, you will see a triangular section of grass on your left and a road that turns to the left over the river around the 40MPH sign. Turn left and follow that road out through the boonies for at least 10 miles, probably more. You will pass a church on your left and see a metal bridge in front of you. There is a left turn just before the bridge. Take it and as you get to the top of the hill, you can see Midview out to your right.
It is a UTE Tribal lake and you will need a tribal permit. I don't know the day fees, but the annual is $65 this year. There is also a $10 a day boat launch pass that you need for anything larger than a float tube. This includes pontoons, I asked. The UTE Tribe does not work on Friday, or I would call and ask them the fee amounts. Hope it helps.

there are browns in the lake as they come down from the river, the tribe also plant rainbows. I have not tried fishing at night for the browns but am going to do that this summer. The big browns always bit better at night. Starvation has a lot of browns in it. that would be good at night also.If you get a indian lic than you can fish twin pots, which is on the way to moon lake, and ceder view which is up in athe neola area, then there are some more onthe tribe land, there are two good ones in the hill creek area, that takes one day just to get to them, they ;are south of Roosevelt, the basin is a fishermans paradise.

The clay basin ponds, just North East of Altamont is always good for indian land fishting, but it seems to winter kill every so often too. One question is there bass in Big Sand Wash??? I know it is good on the trout end of things.

Sand Wash does not have Bass that I know of. My girlfriends parents own the Sandwash Metal Arts that you see at the Y for Bluebell and Sandwash just before you hit the lake, I'll double check with them.

First, I hate to be the bearer of bad news. Apparently Borham (Midveiw) was drained dry last year thanks to the drought. I have this on very good authority. Good news: Yes, there are largemouth bass in Sandwash, and they are toads. They are two to three pound little fattys. Caught them myself. Bad news: Sandwash will be drained dry this year for outlet repairs on the dam. Apparently the largemouth were illegally stocked, so they won't be part of the DWR restocking effort after the dam is refilled. Like I said, I hate to be the bearer of bad news.................
