Payson Lake - bassmastertf - 04-24-2003

We are planning a family camping, fishing trip in June to Payson Lake. Does anyone have information about the campgrounds around the lake.We need a rather large space. I have no clue who to call to reserve a spot any help would be appreciated.

Payson Lake has many selections for camping. You can do either improved or unimproved camping. By the main lake there is 2 campgrounds. The upper campground is more single or double units. The lower campground has 3 or 4 group sites. Below i have posted a web site where you can reserve a spot.

There are also many places close by the lake that you can camp and not pay [Smile]. The only down side is that there is no facilities(bathrooms, water, tables)[Sad]. But these are just first come first serve. I hope that this helps.

Hey bassmastertf, on another note, the have you ever been to payson lake before? If not , you'll love it! the camp areas are very nice , and if your taking some kids fishing , fish the smaller lakes other than the main lake. I used to love going with my aunt and uncle and cousins camping and fishing there as a kid.-TIBBZZ-

Take a rowable craft. The last time I was there, you couldn't have anything with a motor on it, not even electric. But it is the perfect place for a tube, kayack, pontoon, etc... Small enough to cover and large enough to enjoy. Go to the South end of the largest lake (Payson Lake?) in the evening. Where the willows are up against the walking path (if they are still there) and throw out a worm and mallow floating up from the bottom. Tasty little Brook Trout galore!!! That was about 8-9 years ago. Throw a crocodile spoon, panther martin spinner, etc.. if you don't use bait. Fly fishing is great there, but I wouldn't know what to use. Have fun.
