Arizona Sunshine (Report) - TubeDude - 05-12-2003

[cool]Air temps in the high eighties. Water temp just passing 70. Warm sunshine. Spring flowering trees and cactus. Clear skies and no wind.

Caught 40 - 50 yellow bass and two nice channel cats. One 24" and 6.5 pounds. The other 27" and 7.2 pounds. All on ultralight gear and 4# line. Got towed all over the place. See the full report on the float tubing board at http://www.bigfishtackle.com/cgi-bin/gforum/gforum.cgi?post=43584;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;guest=229962

Nice report, TD! Those channels should make some good eating. Your weather is much better than ours has been. I fished yesterday with snow right to the shoreline of the lake. 80 dgrees! HA! How would it be? I'll tell you in two months. Again, nice report!

[cool]Hey FB2, how is the arm doing? Hope you are able to wave that rod soon.

Yes, there are about thirty of the chunkier yellow bass in the basket. Along with the two chunky channels, they kept me at the filleting board for a while. But they were worth the effort. Yum.

[cool]Hey BLM, you're right about the good eating. The channels from Saguaro are especially fine eating. It is a clear water reservoir, and the cats are mostly "sight feeders", living on live prey like shad and crawdads...with the occasional sunfish. Their flesh is always prime. I fillet them and then cut the fillets into finger sizes strips, before dry coating and deep frying in hot peanut oil. I cook them until they are almost crisp..."Kittie Krispies"... and then dip them in seafood sauce, BBQ, sweet and sour...or just munch them "a-la-catfish".

We gloat a lot about the weather down here during the cooler months, but the endless string of 100 plus days, which starts soon, kinda shuts everyone up for a while. In a couple of months, when you are enjoying your eighties, I will be hoping the NIGHTTIME temps get down below 80.

PS,,,My sister lives in Cache Valley, so I know what the weather report up there is. Why do you think I posted my Arizona report? BWA-HA-HA-HA-HA

Nice fish TubeDude. I'll bet that they gave you a ride.I know what you mean about the weather even here. Was sitting on the rocks at Willard a few weeks ago and the wind was bad. But then you stop and think that later this summer we will be sitting there praying for wind because we are baking our brains out.
