Stowing anchor ropes - Kent - 09-09-2008

Looking for advice on stowing my anchor ropes. I use a 150' 3/8 inch anchor rope and also a shorter one. I have struggled finding the best way to stow the rope when I am not using the anchor. I have used a plastic device designed to wrap electrical extension cords on, but it isn't quite large enough to handle the entire length of the anchor rope. What does everyone else use?

I started using those nylon mesh bags for my anchor 'lines' and seem to work pretty good. Not too much untangling to do. I have several smaller mesh bags that I use for my dock lines. One advantage for the mesh bags is that they allow the lines to dry faster. I don't have as much line as you do, so you'll probably a bigger bag. I got mine from Sportsmans in the camping section.

As I pull up my anchor I put the rope (not very carefullly) in a 5 gal bucket. It spools out easily and doesn't tangle. When I'm back a the ramp I'll store the rope under my front deck area and remove the bucket. Works for me.
