Lower Owens - Dryrod - 10-14-2008 [#008000]Lower Owens River Wild Trout Section: 13-October-08[/#008000] [#008000]The flows are at 225 cfs and will be down to 150 cfs Sunday the 19th. The water temperature is in the high 50’s. Nymphing has been very productive. Two 'BB' size split shot should be enough to get the fly down. Some flies to use would be Tiger midges, gold ribbed hares ears, ultra midges and pheasant tails in sizes 16-18. Streamers are also another good choice. A long sink tip is in order though. A 20-25 foot tip and 150-200 grains is good. Woolly buggers, spruceaboos and matukas are good choices. If I don't bring those 2 flies, it is just as well that I don't go. They work well on the Browns and even the hold over Rainbows. Go even farther down the road, between Poleta and Warm Springs, and you will see what I am talking about.[cool] [signature] |
