Need help with a steering problem. - croftboy98 - 06-07-2009

I have a 16 foot lancer boat with a 50 horse Force outboard motor. The boat has stick steering and it is really hard to steer. The steering is really tight and I cant figure out how to get it to loosen up. It literally takes both hands to steer. I detached the cable from the motor and determined that the cable is not the problem. the problem is the motor itself. I tried greasing it but it didnt help. Does anyone know why the motor would be hard to turn and how to fix it? Thanks.

I would say you definatly have a problem in the steering tube if the grease did't help at all. you may need to tear it down and get inside.
ask this again on a site called iboats. thousands of people from around the world are on it including factory techs that really know there stuff.(frank-chrysler/force)
