help with the reel - va-fisherman - 06-21-2009

Alright I am getting a small casting reel for carp, catfish, striper, and drum. It is going on a '7"6 Shimano Teramar casting rod in a 30 class fast action heavy power, I am bank/pier fishing. I am filling it with heavy braid. I am getting ether a Abu Garcia Revo Toro,
Quantum Cabo PT bait cast,
Shimano Calcutta TE,
or Daiwa Luna, what do you guys think I am leaning toward the Luna.

Those reels are all fine models, but they are all built for speed!

The Gear Ratios are all really fast and may work against you when you are wrestling in that hawg.

I suggest a heavier baitcaster.

I have 2 big game baitcasting outfits. They both have Abu Garcias on them. One is an Abu Garcia 6600 series AmbasSaduer, and one is an Abu Garcia 5600 series AmbasSaduer.

They both have 5.1:1 gear ratios, and work excellent for hauling those big cats off the bottom.

Hope this helped :-)
