this is only my opinion, but its not the reel that handles the size of the fish on the end of the rod, but the fisherman... but after google'ing your reel, you should be just fine

I recently bought a Pflueger President, not the XT model. Mine is blue and silver. I'm looking forward to trying it out in the spring. I'll be using mine for trout. From the looks of yours you should do well with it. I'd like to hear how it works out for you. Have fun and good luck.
