Where to fish near Pullman, WA - s10swany - 02-17-2010

Where are their good places to fish on the snake near Pullman? Also is their any other areas somewhat nearby that I could fish at. I don't really want to get an Idaho license but if I have too I will.

Hey I'm just across the border from you in Moscow. I would go check out the Grand Ronde river, it's about an hour south of Lewiston on the washington side. I was down there on monday steelhead fishing. from what we heard monday was a lot slower than it has been but we still all caught at least one, my brother caught 5 one day last week.
I'm also hoping to try for catfish down on the snake in washington this summer....
Good luck, hope this helps, and welcome to the forum!

I'm over in Moscow as well, what kind of fish are you trying to catch? There quite a few places like over in the Asotin area, all along Lewiston and Clarkston, there's the Granite damn probably like 45 minutes from pullman or Wawawoi as well.

I am in Pullman too. I fish smallmouth bass on snake river. Using soft lures, like grubs, crawfish, worms, it is quite efficient. I am also interested in catfish, but I am still not good at catfishing. I am wondering if somebody can help me?

chicken liver, find a hole in the bottom of the river and drop it in.

Here are a couple areas I would suggest:

Wawawai down on the Snake River will be good for bass and crappie in the coming spring. Jigs bounced around the bottom do well and this area can be fished from shore

Blyton and Steptoe down on the Snake River are good places Nov. - Jan. for Steelhead if you have a boat. Most pull plugs in those areas.

Rock Lake is a great place for Rainbows and Brownies. It's a bit farther of a drive and a boat is really needed to fish it. It is best in the fall but can be fished year round.

The Grand Ronde is a good place to steelhead if you don't have a boat. This river is best in the late winter and early spring.

A few of these spots are up on FindFish if you are interested in learning more.

Enjoy!

Try dead meat (ideally dead fish) on the bottom below the dam
