Bass Fishing in Montauk? - michaelssites - 06-14-2010

Went out to Montauk over Memorial Day. Our bout maxed out at 8 stripped bass. All of them were the 28-32" range - anyone catching anything bigger?

Welcome to the sight. Montauk is the striper capital for sure. We are getting bigger fish at the race as the big girls seem to have moved out deep. 38"-44" I went to stoneington sunday and found nothing with the bait. Fluked instead. What were you useing to fish with??

I was out last weekend. I have relatives with a house out across from Hither Hills about 10 minutes from the light house. Fished the surf for a day and did OK at Turtle Cove for 3 short bass and a few small bluefish.

I also fished Fort Pond for a mess of largemouth all in the 12 to 15 inch range.

Decent trip....I rarely go out in the summer months as Montauk is mostly a hunting spot for me but it was nice to get out there while the stores are actually open and it doesn't cost me an hour to go get a cup of coffee.

Was thinking of heading out this weekend as well but I will most likely head upstate instead.
