goose smackdown - fish_or_die - 11-22-2010

headed out to "farmington bay" saturday for some goose killin. I once heard tim grounds say anyone can kill geese on goose shit and well, we did [Smile]. Got set up on the x just before the flights and filled our five man canada limit plus we knocked down 7 out of 8 snow geese that came in with them!! Ha! wow, what a day. After we cleaned up we went and walked a section of river and brought down 7 more mallards. This season just keeps gettin better! enjoy the pics
oh, and the little snow goose on top is my rossie [Smile]

Good Hell!! You have my envy! I've never killed that many geese in my lifetime let alone on one morning.

You guys don't need an extra for your next trip do ya? [Wink]

I tried mud lake a couple weeks ago for the first time. Lots of carp, not a lot of ducks. that was my first skunk of the season too. Not sold on Utah Lake for waterfowling yet

How dare you question my story! I ONLY hunt at Farmington! I always do my best on the center dike too [Smile] Don't know why anyone would ever hunt anywhere else

Your a funny young man.

Are you interested in some ocean front property down along that center dike?

One of my hunting partners manages farmington bay. There was nobody checked through the refuge with any kind of harvest similar to what you claim. I think you are trying to fill us full of goose crap. I am saying this is a story with and It has very little truth to it. It smells of goose feces. gshorthair

Re: [gshorthair] goose smackdown - fish_or_die - 11-25-2010

the only truth that matters in my report is that I limited out on giant honkers and brought down two snow geese and a mallard. If anyone thought i was serious when I wrote "farmington bay" for that kind of shoot with that background i'm sorry and I'll make my sarcasm a little more apparent next time.

dude ya gotta tell me your secret cause i have been hunting farmington for four years and its rare to see snows out there even seing them canadas is rare but ive still yet to shoot a goose of any sort in those four years just ruddys and puddle ducks for me

Re: [my2bucks] goose smackdown - fish_or_die - 02-27-2011

they weren't a farmington. Found those birds in a field many many miles from any WMA. The secret for me is being nice to my friends who are hard core goose hunters [Smile] A utah goose is a hard thing for those of us that don't take it too seriously. The guys who consistently shoot lots are the ones with several dozen dekes, lots of gas money for scouting and friends in the farming community. I just go when invited cause the U gets every spare minute I can spare and every dollar I earn.
