I don't know for sure on the north marina but I do know at the south you have to walk it a ways before you can put in.

I haven't been there since last Sunday but I think you would have to carry it. This is based on how far the water has been dropping the last month and the fact that they dredged the channel out of the south marina again this week. I don't think you would have to carry it far but at least 50 yards and a far as 100 yds. Doug Miller reported last night that people are getting into some wiper boils in the evening on the west dike, some people are wading into the lake around the light pole and others are carrying their float tubes up the dike and launching between the S/W and the N/W corner. Let us know if you go and how you do. WH2

My brother and I launched from the north marina today, had to pull the boat out of the marina by hand water is only a foot or less out to the first buoy, the mud is 12".Seen a guy in a white ford try and drive down the edge of the rocks to the buoys and when he was loading his boat he got a little too close to the water!!Doh!!Two trucks hooked on to him and could not move him ,tow truck time, after the tow truck pulled him out he got stuck in the sand,It was quite eventfull down there!!We fished the lightpole area in 10-13' cought 1 4# wiper and lost one,the one we cought was on a white jig, water temp was 74`. We took a stroll along the west dike and found all kind of stuff, tons of worm harnesses,a few rapalas and 4 anchors,So if your in the market for an anchor let me know I will hook you up,I have 3 15#s and 2 of them are the navy style and the other is a homeade job and 1 8# mushroom style!!M.H.

Thanks for the report MH, as shallow as it was last Sunday I'm surprised there is any water in the marina. So the deepest water you found was only 13 feet? It sounds like it was worth the trip with all the stuff you found, to bad the catching wasn't better. I'm glad to hear the water temp is going down, that will make the fishing better. Is the Navy style anchor the type that BLM uses at Bear lake? If it is then I could use a 15 pounder. It sounds like you brought your fish finder this time? WH2

WH2 that anchor is not the same style as BLMs anchor, his has the thin prongs that fold down these are heavy"galvanized steel"?? I dont know for sure!! But you are welcome to it if you want it!!M.H.

So instead of having the thin blades, they are thick heavy blades? Do they dig in the same way? Kent J, has one like that, have you seen his? WH2

Thanks BLM, would the navy style work at Bear lake? I would think the extra weight would help dig in better, what do you think? WH2

WH2,I use that type and it holds just fine,I have broke free a few time but only in high winds and big waves. If you were to rig it like BLMs with a 6-8'chunk of chain, from the anchor to the rope it will work great!!M.H.

Re: [muskyhunter] Need Willard North info. - wiperhunter2 - 08-25-2003

I have two anchors like BLM's but I thought one like the heavier Navy type would be good for lakes that are not as deep. We need to plan a fishing trip together and I'll get the anchor then, that sound OK? WH2

Re: [muskyhunter] Need Willard North info. - wiperhunter2 - 08-26-2003

That is fine with me because I'll be out of town this weekend doing a little fishing at Deer creek, Jordanelle and hopefully Starvation. I work swing shift but I have every other fri, sat and sun off, I'm sure we can work something out. I'll PM you sometime next week so we can make some plans. Lets hope they get the permits to dredge the north channel. Good luck on the Bear.WH2
