Red Fleet Walleyes - bmitchell - 07-13-2011
I am curious if anyone has been to red fleet to try to catch the walleyes? I am going to be in that area next week and would like to try to target them. Does anyone have any advice for that place? I imagine it is similar to other walleye places, but I'm not that great at those either. Any help would be appreciated by response or pm

There are NOT that many walleye in redfleet. I think they have netted like less than a hundred since spring. A buddy of mine fishes it quite regularly and I think his best day was like 8 fish, and he is one of the better eye fisherman in the state. I wouldnt make a special trip for them, especially if your driving past starvation...

[frown] I fished Red Fleet in MAy for 2 days and didn't catch a waleye--only a small bass and a few rainbows. Irregardless of what another post stated the Fish and Game have netted some nice fish 3,5, and 7 lbs. The problem with Red Fleet is the amount of forage for the walleyes, so they are very difficult to catch. On a Saturday morning and there are only 2 boats on the laske is an indication that fishing isn't that good and we drove 4 hrs to get there. We don't plan on going back this century!
