Nail Head candy... - macfly55 - 10-01-2012

now before anyone yells I know this is a saltwater pattern and you do not use a real "nail"... but looked at this and it looks so simple (except for the cost of the uv light and epoxy)... and wondering if it could be used as a freshwater fly as well..

Gotten more refined, but been around for a long time. Mostly for Bass, so I can see branching out. Nice sleek shiner pattern.

any idea how much a basic epoxy and uv light set up runs??

other than obvious cost would a sharkhead work better on this??

There is a lot of choices out on the market. The lights can be found anywhere really. I have a flash light that is regular LED then UV then red laser. Cost.....$10. and up.
This is a popular choice for the glue:

but there are many others. Loons UV Knot Sense., http://solarez.com/productsnew/fly_tie_uv_resin.html

Thinking of making some up? Easy tie really.

I looked at the links and the clear cure goo and solarez seem to have the same variations in their products (thin, thick, flex) and each offer a "kit" where you get two to three tube of epoxy and a uv light.. only difference I can see is the solarez kit is half the price of clear cure goo...

the knot sense seems to be the most cost effective but people keep saying let the sun shine on it.. does that mean you can only do it that way or will a good uv light work as well (yes I am novice at this.. :-) )
