Trimming the Marabou on the tale takes away movement. [signature] Re: [LOVBASS117] You tell me - RockyRaab - 05-31-2013 Well, it looks a bit like a minner what's been mugged for its lunch money - kinda. Photo hint: Place a sheet of plain cardboard behind the fly next time, to eliminate the confusing background. If that's too dark, glue a sheet of copy paper to the cardboard. The copy paper also allows a good white balance if your camera has that feature. [signature] Re: [LOVBASS117] You tell me - LOVBASS117 - 06-01-2013 Well I was going for a red side shiners [signature] Re: [LOVBASS117] You tell me - flygoddess - 06-01-2013 Great attempt. You are not the first to try to make a fly look like a traditional lure. Heck they even sell the Rapala plastic diving lips for flies. The problem may be more in the way it floats. It could spin when retrieving. Most flies look nothing like anything in the water, but rather the color and movement. Doing the same thing with Marabou or Rabbit will do the job "When Wet" ![]() [signature] Re: [flygoddess] You tell me - riverdog - 06-01-2013 "Looks alot like my sister-in-law before she went through rehab. ![]() "Great attempt... problem may be more in the way it floats.
