Two Jersey boys, Doug Cohen and John Zamarra, from CumminsPower Systems in Newark, NJ, combined business and a fishing charteraboard the Happy Day Today along with the Topshotfishing team. We had little to no wind and calm seas.

We stopped to pick up a half dozen live Goggle Eyes in the Fort Lauderdaleinlet. Fifteen minutes from leaving thedock, lines were in the water at the drop off in 120 ft. deep at the sea buoyin Fort Lauderdale FL. Westarted off trolling with two plainers, both with double hook Bonito strips, one with a pink and blue sea witch in front, the other with green and blue seawitch. For surface baits we had twoBallyhoos and two Bonito strips.

While we were waiting for the wind to pick up to fly thekite, we trolled the reefs and both anglers caught Kings, Bonitos, Tunas and aMahi Mahi. With very little current, itis always a good policy to fish over wrecks. In Fort Lauderdalewe have 36 artificial wrecks ranging in size from 45 ft. barges to 250 ft.freighters and in depths from 60 ft. of water to 450 ft. We tried flying the kites, but there was notenough wind, so my next plan was to put Shark baits out and live baits from theriggers over an artificial wreck. OneShark bait was on the surface, and as we were letting out the 2ndShark bait, a dorsal fin appeared thrashing the water as it ate our surfaceShark bait. John was our angler andhopped into the fighting chair to do battle. With a good initial run and the Shark taking half the spool off of theInternational Lady, John settled in to do battle. Forty-five minutes later, a Golden HammerheadShark was reeled to the side of the boat, pictures were taken and the Shark wasreleased. Even with John being in perfectphysical shape, his arms were sore and tired after that battle.
