Madison above Quake lake - HFT - 09-11-2013 The wife took me to Campfire lodge for a week. I struggled to catch fish the first couple days and ready to call it quits. on the 4th day I started to figure it out. Put on a #10 glass Buzzer with a #18 brassie w/wing and hit 4 fish with my biggest fish of the trip hitting the glass buzzer. It was a 6lb Brown from behind a big bolder WOOOHOOOO! Lost my Buzzer on the next fish. Funny, I have had that fly for years and never fished it. We found that a red serendipity on front with a purple rubber leg Barrs was our best combination and the last 2 days we knocked the socks off them. [signature] Re: [HFT] Madison above Quake lake - tubbyama - 09-11-2013 Man, I hit my first salmonfly hatch ever on that section like 13 years ago. It was so awesome. Big monster browns every few casts. Love Montana. [signature] Re: [HFT] Madison above Quake lake - Browntrout - 09-12-2013 Buzzer glue question: Do you use Clear Cure Goo and Clear Cure Goo Light? Or is there a cheaper alternative? Thanks. [signature] Re: [Browntrout] Madison above Quake lake - flygoddess - 09-12-2013 SHHAN. A lot cheaper, but takes time. [signature] Re: [flygoddess] Madison above Quake lake - Browntrout - 09-12-2013 "SHHAN. A lot cheaper, but takes time." Thank you flygoddess. . [signature] Re: [HFT] Madison above Quake lake - slimerslayer - 09-12-2013 Hey James....love that Campfire Resort. Good location. Spent a week this summer over the 4th.Hit a good portion of the salmonfly hatch and also did well nymphing both above and below Quake. I hear it's a blast to fish above Quake late winter.....big bows. [signature] Re: [Browntrout] Madison above Quake lake - tubbyama - 09-13-2013 I thought I saw a UV flashlight at Sportsmans for like $11? next to the clear goo. Does that sound right? I'm thinking of trying this stuff. [signature] Re: [tubbyama] Madison above Quake lake - Browntrout - 09-13-2013 Clear Cure Goo Light at Cablea's $30. [signature] Re: [tubbyama] Madison above Quake lake - flygoddess - 09-13-2013 I have looked at it but at $50. + dollars, I have a drying wheel and use $2.50 Sally Hansens ![]() However, I a, going to get some of this stuff: http://solarez.com/productsnew/fly_tie_uv_resin.html [signature] Re: [flygoddess] Madison above Quake lake - Browntrout - 09-13-2013 I bought SH today---$2.47 WalMart. Let us know how the solarez works for you. [signature] Re: [Browntrout] Madison above Quake lake - tubbyama - 09-13-2013 Ive been a Sally fan for years. I need something like epoxy to build up around the eyes on my saltwater streamers. Epoxy works but I sometimes don't want to deal with the drying wheel and waiting to dry. [signature] Re: [Browntrout] Madison above Quake lake - HFT - 09-13-2013 I use 5 minute epoxy. Slimmerslayer- a good friend says spring for the big Bows, spawn time. We stayed at cabin 12 our deck was right at the river. NICE!! [signature] Re: [Browntrout] Madison above Quake lake - SatanLBZ801 - 09-13-2013 You can go buy any UV Light off Ebay for $5 and it'll do the same thing. CCG lights aren't anything special. So $7 for the light, $10 for a tube of goo. You're in business! You still need to cover the CCG with some SH, otherwise it's tacky. http://www.clearcuregoo.com/page2/page2.html Tell me this $7 flashlight isn't the exact same flashlight Fishwest is selling for $50..... Every where else is trying to get $30 out of it from people. http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-21LED-UV-Ultraviolet-Flashlight-Lamp-Torch-Aluminum-Alloy-Gray-/271009650887?pt=US_Flashlights&hash=item3f196f18c7 [signature] Re: [HFT] Madison above Quake lake - up2nogood - 09-14-2013 As much time as I spend on the Madison, never fished above Campfire, I have fished some between Campfire, and Quake. We spend 4-6 weeks at Slide, I fish there to Raynolds Bridge or just below the bridge. Great place to spend part of the summer. [signature] Re: [up2nogood] Madison above Quake lake - HFT - 09-14-2013 Above Campfire was the bigger variety of fish Cutts, Bows, Browns, Whitefish and sizes. Plus it was easier to wade. [signature] Re: [HFT] Madison above Quake lake - up2nogood - 09-15-2013 Every time I pass the bend there I tell myself to try it, most of the time two to three guys standing in there fishing ,seems like a pretty popular place. Will give it a try next summer, if I can get off the lower section ,and Quake . [ ![]() [signature] |
