Humminbird 597ci hd di; ice fishing - Fishy43 - 12-04-2013
I am fairly certain that this down imaging model that I bought doesn't work with the humminbird ice transducer. The transducer I have is already mounted to my boat, and I wouldn't want to buy an extra of the same one because it's not built for the ice, and I certainly wouldn't have bought it if I knew it isn't compatible with an ice transducer. Any way to make this work as a flasher I am not thinking of?

I believe the unit has the flasher mode with any transducer you are using whether it be the ice fishing transducer or the boat transducer whether its a transom or a hull mount unit.
The complication is, if you do buy the ice transducer for it which will run you $95 it does not have down imaging available on it. But yes, the flasher mode should work on any given transducer I believe. Someone correct me if I am wrong?

Thought I would update, after hopping on live chat with humminbird (super easy), the gave me the following info, looks like it will work with the ice ducer.

[Levi] I have a 597ci hd di
[Levi] i am reading that it wont work?
[Jennifer] you will need to have the latest software in the 597ci HD DI to have a feature named Digital Depth Source in the Advanced Sonar menu
[Levi] i don't care about the down imaging, because i know you have to be moving for that to work
[Jennifer] you will change this setting from Auto to 2D when using the ice ducer which will perform for 2D sonar only for 200 kHz with the system
[Jennifer] the ice ducer is part number XI 9 20
[Levi] woohoo, so it looks like it will work
[Jennifer] yes, you will just need to make sure the software is above 6.250 to have this feature that I just mentioned to you

I know that the "flasher" setting is already in the options. But there is a chance that you "disabled" it. There as so many "views" that you can "disable" the ones you don't want to "see" as your scrolling.
In my boat there are a few views that I never use so I disabled them in the options. Every once in a while I'll want one that I've disabled and I have to find it and turn it back on.
Also the down or side imaging won't work while your stationary on the ice. Those big boat transducers are a pain to deal with in a ice hole. I'm looking forward to a ice-ducer this year.
