How many hatcheries are there in the state of California??

Hi there TubeN2,
From what I can get with a super search on my favorite search engine, there is over a thousand trout and steelhead hatcheries in California both private, DFG, and research or university programs. Awesome number of mom and pop facilities.
It's really wild, with so many hatcheries around, some of the pay-to-fish-lakes still go out of state for certain species.

Hey JR, believe it or not, the private hatcheries in state and some of the state ones from other states actually have a better quality of food for their little pets diet. For the fish eater that can be a much more pleasant experience and make a world of difference.
