Halibut in the Santa Monica Bay - Highlander_MDR - 02-26-2002

Hi all, went out in the Santa Monica Bay on Sunday, the halibut were on the munch, we had a lot of short fish from 12 to 20 inches, only fished for 4 hours and ended up with a nice legal female of about 10 pounds. We started our day at the sea lion (76 ball) and caught a few shorts, moved down to Topanga bubbles and caught maybe 10 more shorts before I got the big female. Good dinner that nite, we started at 80 feet and the drift was nice into the beach, all our bites were in the 40 to 45 foot mark right in front of the Getty.Larry at INSIENE bait had squid in the receivers, he hooked us up.We also noticed that all the boats around us were hooking short fish. The wind came up at noon and we headed for the barn.I figure the big ladies should be in,in time for the upcoming derbies.See you on the water.Call on CHL19 Highlander

Jack Archibald (Highlander)
