Mackay or Chesterfield Ice - OvidCreek - 11-28-2014

I doubt there is any ice yet, but was just curious if either Mackay or Chesterfield is capped. If you want to keep it a secret just PM me, I will be happy to exchange fishing information. Was hoping to try someplace new this Saturday, Henry's may be a madhouse.

I wouldn't be surprised if mackay was at least capped, but that is just an educated guess. My dad was up in that vicinity elk hunting about a week ago when it was cold, and the temp never got above 10 degrees, and was 10 below at night for 4 days straight. Hopefully someone else has better info for you.

If you were at Henry's on Saturday I'm sure you hated it as bad as I did. Idaho has really got to do something about that wind!!![Wink] Friday afternoon and Sunday morning was good fishing though, and not crowded at all.

I am actually glad you told me that, makes my decision to go to Montpelier even more satisfied. We had wind there, but only gusts. Half my poles would be blown over and then fifteen minutes later it would happen again. I have had four great trips to Henry's this year and have done well on each trip.

You know why the wind blows in Idaho, right? Because Utah sucks. LOL. j/k.

It's true. I lived in salt lake for a couple years. It does suck.

After working in the oil fields around rock springs, I've changed my thinking. I think it may be Wyoming.

Was home for T-Day and swung up to Mackay 11/28 to check ice conditions. The reservoir is capped with ice, but the edges are sketchy all the way around. I would assume there is 2-3 inches. White bad ice, rather than clear blue safe ice. Give it another couple weeks and you should be able to walk on.

Hope the kokes have some size to them this year....

Thank you for the reply, I really want to get to Mackay. I am betting the Koke fishing is going to be awesome this year! I will be there on the 20-21st for sure!
