Good to know - thanks for posting this - we were just thinking with so many bluegill they should do something on the limit, but hadn't realized it was on the list for the rotenone treatment.
Anyone wanting to get their kids on some fast catching of bluegills thru the ice for their kiddos should consider taking their kids there.

that is good to know. maybe I will have to get over that way before October.

What is the target depth at Pelican? I'm taking the kids this morning. Any advice is appreciated.

If they're going to kill it off anyway, why have limits on anything? Might as well let people keep anything they want. I'm glad to see it getting treated though, I would love to see it like it was back in the 70's and 80's again....great decision from the DWR!
Also, I hope they don't go throwing those dang muskies in there, unless its only a few. Just a good panfish and bass pond would be great, just like it used to be. Mike [signature]

It was stated in another post that it will be stocked with bass, bluegill, and channel cats.

I don't understand it completely, but the DWR has rules they must abide by regarding fish limits on certain species. As the treatment nears they may remove all limits. They will also be having a bass/bluegill salvage day to catch as many as possible for an initial restocking of fish immediately after the treatment. The advisory committee will be meeting in February to discuss the treatment timing and the progress of the plan thus far. But it won't happen until either fall of 2017 or perhaps even fall of 2018 depending on other parts of the plan being implemented. I'll try to update y'all on this after the meeting.
Tiger muskies were discussed as an option, but were turned down in favor of the original species list minus carp. [signature]

Is there any need for helping salvage fish when the time comes?
That would be better than going to work. [ ![]() [signature]

This was discussed on another site several weeks ago that deals mainly with ice fishing. [

These salvage days are often open to anyone who wants to help. I'll try to keep updates on the progress so you can join in when it happens.
