Hit Echo with my friend Monday and got there about 10:00. Talked to a few people coming off the ice and they had done ok, but not good enough to write home about. We started in 34 feet of water out from the ramp where my daughter and I had done great the week before when we caught over 80 between us. Were using ratfinkies with wax worms and then perch meat and didn't do anywhere near as well as the week before. I usually drop it to the bottom and reel 1 1/2 turns up, but had to leave it just off the bottom to get anything. I also had a rod down about 10 feet with a white paddle bug and wax worm. Caught 9 perch and 4 rainbows there, then went out another 100 yards (43 feet deep) to see if less pressure would improve the bite, but did about the same. Ended up catching 17 perch (none of any great size) and 7 rainbows (6 around 15 inches and 1 17+). My buddy ended up with about the same number of perch. It was a beautiful sun-screen day with no wind and we could watch the deer and elk up on the hills when fishing was slow. Great day all around.
