No slush at the Berry 2/16
#1
Road in to the marina is clear

Took sleds over to Renegade. There was a nice crust of snow, 2-3 inches, on top of slush that has frozen solid. Looks like the water has been absorbed by the snow and the cold nights have frozen it.
Should be good travel for ATVs and side by sides.

From the looks of all the deep ruts all over the lake from last week traveling then would have been a nightmare.

Probably about 6 inches left on the auger before we punched through

Talked to a group on the Renegade side and they had caught over 20.

Put your waders up enjoy the good weather and go fishing before it melts

I agree. You can't ask for conditions any better than they are now at Strawberry. Snowmobiles, ATVs and Side by sides were having no problems. Walking and pulling a sled was easier than I have ever experienced at Strawberry. The ice is nearly 3 feet thick when you include the frozen slush layer. I was fishing out from the marina yesterday. It was a beautiful day of ice fishing and the catching wasn't too bad either. I fished for 2 1/2 hours and caught 6 slot cutthroat. It was so nice to just get out on a sunny February day.

Thanks for the report!! I'll be at renegade on Sunday, two weeks ago we were shoveling two feet of snow there.

Tks for the good report....we last fished here during and after the 'Big Snows', so it's been awhile....we've been taking advantage of good ice at Pineview and Mantua lately, but are probably ready for some Big Fishees at the Berry.....Last year our last ice fishing trip here was on April 11, so we should have lots of good ice time yet....Guluk...
