Deer Creek de-con station, help, must do stuff

I would like to go to Deer Creek this week
Is there any place to get a professional boat-decontamination
This time of year in south Salt Lake.

I have never had my boat decontaminated because I never have fished waters that needed it.

need to check some things on the boat
the minn kota got fishing line around the prop and let water in the motor
took the motor apart and cleaned it, so if it does not work will need to buy another one.
and a new fishing log system using a Kindle Fire tablet. (will post the log).
logs speed, how deep, temp. at down rigger,
use talk for notes.

things to do to get your boat ready

pack wheel bearing on Trailer (new bearings and seals if needed)
change oil on boat motors
change oil in transom gear-case
clean corrosion control anode
pull props off and check
check lights look for lose bolts.
check tires

***Check bilge pump is working.

***Check stamped date on fire extinguisher to make sure its not expired.

***Make sure you have registration and current insurance in the boat.

***Check the horn.

*** Boat ore if you don't have a second motor.

Check water level in batteries.

Charge batteries.

Take the 2017 Quaga test and print off the completed quaga form for your truck dash.

The first 5 items starred are things that Willard Bay DNR officers will make sure you have. From my experience over the past few years you should expect to be given an inspection or 3 in the early boating months at Willard. I am sure you have all your ducks in a row but those are a couple of reminder to all.

As far as decontamination. If you call the Ranger up at Deer Creek, I would think you could talk him into getting his machine ready. I believe he is very short staffed for the winter though. Someone working up there up there put a boat ramp dock in on Saturday during the day while we were out fishing.

I had the same thing happen to my minnkota I pilot last fall. The armature was soaked in water...I ended up needing a new control panel and foot...it was cheaper than buying a new complete set up...

If the boat has been stored over the last 2-3 months, you have self decontaminated. If you have never been on a contaminated water, ie: Deer Creek, Lake Powell, Sand Hollow, Quail Creek, Mead, Mohave, Havesu, you don't need to decon BEFORE launching on Deer Creek. However, after being on DC, you will need to get decontaminated before launching anywhere else. I would call the State Parks folks, they may have a setup at the main office in SLC to take care of early season jobs before setting up for the season. Do everything else that has been noted !!!

The OP is wanting to take his boat up to DC and is inquiring about decon after being on the water. I want to head up myself but my boat has never been on an infested body of water and am unsure I want to, but very tempted after seeing that monster brown being caught.
