Harbor work on Utah Lake
#1
So, from what I have been able to gather here, Saratoga Springs marina, Pelican Bay Marina, Lincoln Beach, Provo, and American Fork Harbor are all having work done on them, correct ?? That is really great to hear. However, Provo will be closed for most of the summer if I read things correctly, right ?? Anybody got any more info on all this work ??

AF is getting an enlarged parking area and a new water well, but are they going to dredge the harbor and especially the mouth of the harbor ?? Have not been able to get any info on that .

Saratoga Springs Marina Park is having some pumps installed to provide irrigation water for the residents of the city. Along with the pump install the marina will be dredged approximately 4'. The proposed dredging of a 4' deep canal appx. a half mile out in to the lake may or may not happen. The canal is currently under design consideration.
This project is being constructed by COP Construction and owned by Saratoga Springs City.
It's anticipated completion is expected towards the 2nd or 3rd week of May.
The south half of the parking lot and access to the ramp will remain open at all times and is a condition of the contract between the City and COP.
The City will not forget about you fisherman. If you appreciate the lot and ramp being open during construction be sure to let City Hall know.

On a side note concerning the Jordan River, the City is also in design and funding stage to install a canoe 'put in' area about 300 yards downstream of the pumphouse at Inlet Park. You will then be able to easily 'put in' at the pump-house, fish downstream for a few hours, then 'take out' at Willow Park.
Should be lots of fun!

When you say Saratoga Springs Marina, are you talking the one on the North end of the lake, where the warm springs are?? or are you talking down the road by Pelican Pt. ??

If it is the north end marina, there will be no public access, only residents !

The marina at the south end is actually called the Saratoga Springs Marina Park. It is a public marina that costs $8 to launch a boat but is free to fish from the jetty. It is actually a city owned park property, that is why drive in/walk in access is free. It has a big pavilion, a few small pavilions, a fish cleaning station,a small grass area for picnicking, and restrooms. Camping overnight is NOT allowed.
There is a privately owned ramp even further south on Pelican Point, is that the one you are talking about? I would NOT advise trying to launch there.
There is a privately owned launch at the north end (site of the original amusement park from the 70's and early 80's) where the big hot springs are. It is owned by the Saratoga Springs Development ( an HOA) and you must own a home in that special service district in order to use that ramp.
Between these two properties is the private 'El Nautica Boat Club'. In order to use this property you must own a share in the club. You can't miss El Nautica. It has been there since the 70's, is approximately 1/4 mile x 1/4 mile square, and has a bunch of mature trees planted around the property that provide fantastic shade.
I hope that helps but if not I will help answer any more questions. I am a huge advocate for the public to keep using UL without getting in trouble. I am getting tired of losing all the fun spots of my youth.

I guess they renamed it, the original name was Pelican Bay I believe and the one on the North end was/is Saratoga Springs. Good to know that they are working to improve Saratoga/Pelican. They have a master plan with all kinds of neat things planned, slips, expanded harbor, etc. May have to drive around one time to launch there this summer !! Thanks for the clarification.

[#0000FF]The Saratoga Springs Marina (at Pelican Bay) is about the nicest launch and play facility around the lake. They really have done a nice job of building and maintaining it.

My only word of caution is to make sure your tow vehicle has plenty of power. The ramp is steep.

Here is my writeup on the marina from 2013. I am in the process of a complete rewrite and will have some new maps and pics.

Gotta throw in my 2 cents worth here. As TubeDude states, the ramp is STEEP!! It' one of my favorite launch sites but--- now I have a pretty heavy boat and only a 2WD pickup.
, If the ramp is at all wet, I have to lay down a lot of rubber to get my boat out.
