Reports that some anglers are fishing from Buckboard north. Ice conditions are variable, specifically the edges, but once you're on it the ice is 10+ inches. Still some major pressure ridges that have recently refroze and been blanketed with snow. We received significant snowfall this week, 12-20 inches. Some roads might not be passable especially those less traveled(?). I only made it a few miles up the Eastside yesterday before a steeper hill with 12 inches of snow turned me around.

Good luck and be safe! Ryno

Thanks for the status! I had to go on an extended business trip out of the country (almost 3 weeks, just got home yesterday), and the whole time I was gone I've been worried that it made me miss the rest of the fishing season. If what you say is true then I should be able to get in some more ice fishing starting this weekend (probably go on Friday). I plan on going to the Confluence/Currant Creek area, so if there's still ice above Buckboard then I should be good as long as I can get to the lake. I wonder if NF-11 is passable from hwy 530 to the confluence? Or maybe Lost Dog road?

I haven't heard, but I know the roads have had a lot of snow on them. I've read/heard reports of anglers getting down to the ice in locations like Brinegar Ferry Crossing, Buckboard, Sage Creek, and Firehole, so if FS11 or Lost Dog isn't passable, you always have those other routes to consider. Chances are though, someone has made it down those other roads and likely made some tracks and/or punched the drifts. I haven't been up for a few weeks (may this Saturday), so I don't have any personal knowledge of the conditions up there.

Good luck, Ryno
