Got myself a new fishing partner the other day so I took her up to Mantua this morning. After reports of lots of standing water and slush this past weekend, I was pleasantly surprised. It's been cold enough the slush has refrozen and theirs still 12+ inches of ice under more than a foot of snow. Ice is starting to rot, but it's still OK. Fishing was pretty good until the snow really started to fall. Caught 3 or 4 bluegills and a couple or three decent perch in a couple hours.

[#0000FF]Never knew there was a breed for "perch pointing". That is the look of concentration.
I think you got a keeper.
Now if you can only teach her to pull you around in your tube...

She's half Malamute. In a year or two I'm combining icefishing with skijoring. Might have to change my moniker to FatSkier. Storms ever going to let up so we can get the tubes on Willard?

[#0000FF]Forecast: Fair and sunny with frequent snow squalls.
Right now the forecrash for next Tues or Weds look like possibles. Have your peeps stay in touch with my peeps and maybe we can sneak in a splash between thunder-snow sessions.
By the way, your new fishing buddy is cute too. I'm guessing you are going to get some enjoys there.

Well done. Looks like you have good timing as far as that slush is concerned.
Makes me nervous fishing on rotting ice, though. Be careful out there.

Glad you made it out again....We should have saved our last Pineview trip for one more Mantua trip, as Pineview was a bust, and we've had a pretty good ice year here at Mantua....my overall perch numbers here were down, but size seemed to be up....bluegill numbers and size were up, and rainbows seemed to be up also.....So I think everything is in the record book, except Strawberry for me...Hope to see you on the ice again somewhere, or maybe out at Willard.. Guluk...

Not to sure if your partner is going to like 4 hours of treading water behind your tube. Last puppy I took out ate my cheese hook. You had better stick with the fly rod. I do know she will always be wanting to go, and she will give you no complaints.

I see your training a new fish finder, I like it.! In two years she will be harnessed up to a sled a doing 20 mph across the ice. This does look promising.
