Hopefully, I'll post a fishing report. Friends are saying I should be fishing at 5 A.M. Saturday morning because that's when the fish want to eat. What are the fish thinking? They'll be just as wet at noon! I can get some good sleep in a warm comfortable bed and then it will be a warm Sunny day at noon. Anyone here is invited to join me fishing.

They are right. Most days the bite really dies off by 9 or 10 in the morning.
That's why I started chasing bass and walleye. They have a active period at dusk that matches my lifestyle better. [signature]

When does the thaw usually happen? Are we weeks away (2) or more like a month away before a boat can get on out of Lucerne? Also, I eventually need to get you to make me one more rod... You made me two last year, thanks![fishon]

Looking like two weeks for ice out at the moment, at least. I'm wrapping up the rod building for the season. I may order blanks and components for one more round, but pretty soon I will be fishing 7 days a week until mid-May. Let me know in an email, and I'll try.

18+ inches of hard dry strong ice covered with 1" of dry snow. Blue sky sunny day and zero wind. Tee shirt comfortable afternoon.

2 weeks ago Lucerne had 6-8 feet of open water along the edge and now it is frozen solid again, appears Linwood is frozen too and red canyon has ice in parts again as well, I hope and pray it is open in 2 weeks but think 3-4 is more realistic. Last year I was up there April 4th and it was a hoot, this year should keep our coolers full! [signature]

Were you going for lake trout or rainbows or both? Any suggestions on lures? I have never been up there right at ice out. We have a boat that can troll or jig. Suggestions on what is best that time of year?

Looks like you are right about the timing. And why wouldn't you be. Be safe out there this year. [signature] |
