The Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge — including the Auto Tour Loop — was closed Monday due to weather conditions and unforeseen water inputs on the Bear River.
The closure occurs 2 miles west of Interstate 15 in Box Elder County.
Refuge staff are evaluating conditions as new information is available and will re-open when conditions are safe, according to a news release, which cited an "unusual water event."
Refuge Manager Bob Barrett stated in the news release: "Concern for visitor safety is the highest priority."

Thanks Pat, That's good to know before you head out to chase cats.... Might not be able to get there... Considering how much water is up stream, I don't doubt they would start seeing problems down stream as well. Thanks for the update... J

Good news with higher water more baitfish will wash downstream for the larger cats to eat.

[#0000FF]But...what if the catfish all wash down into Salt Lake? We may be fishing for a new strain of whiskered marlin.

I check here https://www.fws.gov/nwrs/threecolumn.aspx?id=2147501129 daily. Looks like I'll have to find a new catfishing hole at least for now.

thanks Pat for the heads up

It's blasting over Cutler dam too. I've never seen water (significant) coming over the top, usually through the big pipeline.

But it's churning chocolate down there. The stream above the pumphouse is raging. If I were a braindead kayaker, it'd be drooling.
