I'm a bit late getting to this report but we had a great day at Strawberry Saturday.
Strawberry is my favorite boat fishing lake. It's three trips in one as we start trolling flies and shallow lures for Rainbows until sun-up. Then we hit the Kokanee spots for 2-3 hours. Then we end the day jigging for the big Cutts.
The rainbow trolling was pretty slow. Usually this is the fastest part of the day and we'll often net 10-15 in the first 90 mins.
Only 5 Saturday and most were Cutts.
The Kokanee fishing was our best day ever. We landed 5 and lost another 3 at the boat in the space of a couple hours. We had doubles on twice (but only landed one of each doubles hooked).
The Kokes were 16-18". If this is any indication, it's going to be another stellar Kokanee year up there.
The best part of the day was jigging. We nearly tripled our total in the last hour hooking into mostly 18-20" Cutts. We ended the day at 29.
The last fish was a 24" brute that took us for a 30-minute ride....and gave us a memorable story.
