No first hand experience with it but if you are buying it for the down scan, don't waste you money. Side scan is useful, IMO but not down scan. Have you seen these reviews:

Thanks for that info the only boat fishing I do is on FG and for the price I though it would work good. I live in Manila so no need to travel to fish other lakes. What have you heard about the down scan?

I have down scan on my finder but rarely use it any more because it just does not show any more detail that the regular part of the finder, it might be of more value in a deeper lake like the Gorge but I fish Willard the most. From looking at my friends finders, that have side scan, that is a feature that can really helps find the fish. You can see off to the side of your boat and find those groups of fish that that you went by, then you can turn around and go back through them. With side scan, you can see 75' off to either side of your boat. When I was looking for a new finder, I wanted the side scan but it was $200 more and I just did not want to pay almost double the price but in hindsite, it likely would have been worth it. I know it's a lot of extra money to pay to get the side scan and I was hoping that the down scan would be more useful but if I could do it over, there is little doubt I'd get it.

Mine is a Humminbird 659ci HD, GPS.
When I started having problems with my Lowrance(L), I bought this HB but then I started talking to some people about the problem I was having with L, they said it was likely just my transducer cable. I borrowed one from a friend and sure enough, the problem went away. I then started looking very close at the cable and found an area that was damaged, I cut the bad section out and re spliced the cable and it worked. [signature] |
