Strawberry today 6/30
#1
It was one of those rare Strawberry days where the wind doesn't kick up around noon, making for a great day of fishing.

Did well trolling for kokanee out of the Bay marina. As reported earlier, they started in 15-20 ft and by 10 a.m. they were down 20-30 ft, ultimately hanging around about 35 ft.

We seemed to have better success with green flashers in the earlier a.m., and then the pink flashers got hot.

The place was packed for a weekday (albeit a Friday), and on our way down to Heber it seemed like nearly every vehicle coming up was towing a boat or a big toy hauler. Going to be busy for the next few days!

Thanks for posting your report, did you get any kokes over 20"? Not surprising that folks are trying to get away for the weekend, considering the 4th is early next week, how was the road construction going up the canyon?

No huge Kokanee...they were all in the 18 inch range, but they were all very healthy. Next time I think I'll start measuring girth!

Highway 40 between Heber and Strawberry is coming along. I noticed some pretty fast progress in the widening efforts. Some stretches of the construction look pretty close to done.

I did notice on my way down that they had the watercraft checkpoint open at the port of entry. Probably a good idea, especially for the holiday weekend, but I'm glad it's always closed at 5:30 a.m. when I come chugging up.
