Berry On Fire - Wed.
#1
Trolling this A.M. with lots of company, North and South along the East shore line.....Hot for my buddy early on (0630 to abt 0830) then dead for both, then fairly hot for me 1100 to 1330.....2 nice limits, my buddy 3 good kokes and 1 good cutt (his first time on the Berry) I had 4 kokes; 1 (shudda released) 12", other 3, 17 1/2, 19, and 19 1/2".. DWR survey guy measured all today....Winds kicked up very strong abt 1100, but that's when I started getting hit, so we stayed the course, and winds died down abt 1230..so it ended up being a very rewarding day....2 biggest were 2 1/2 lb each...hit us at 35 to 41', fishing in 80 to 85 FOW....1.5 to 1.8 mph....white didn't produce for me like the last couple times very early....eventually dk pink, chartruese, and a dark Kokomo all worked on various dodgers, with added homemade spinners....Guluk....

I was out yesterday morning as well. Started just before 0530 in the dark. Had a double in the dark but was only able to get one. Got two more pretty quick along with several cutts. Got my last one at 0800 so I was done pretty early. I got them at 49' and 45' on pink and green. I came in I guess before the DNR guy got out of bed - didn't see him.

Were you fishing by yourself? We saw a single fisherman in the area, and I know we crossed a few times (along with a bunch of other guys)...was that you? We were in my older 16' Fiberform, white bottom/ orange top, and cruised that area from 0615 'til we left.....nice to be out there....we doubled up twice, once a Koke and releaser cutt, and then ended our day with a nice double on Kokes...I was a bit surprised that I wasn't 'seeing' fish deeper, like you said, so we just fished th depth they were showing, which was abt 35 to 42' for us, even late A.M. to 1330 when we doubled up....

Yes I was solo in a white Glastron with at white bimini top. I too could see lots of fish up higher - though I did see them down to 50 on the finder. I had been there on Monday and done well at the deeper depths so that was where I started and since I only had 4 to catch and they came so fast, I didn't change depths. There were lots of cutts in the mix too. I got one that was just over the slot - it went back. That may indicate that I was just on the bottom on the best kokanee range because I seem to find larger cutts just under the school of kokanee.
I should be back on Monday and Wednesday next week. I have family and friends that want to play again.

We were at the berry on Wed as well but had to leave a bit early to finish packing up camp and getting out on time. We had 3 kokes, several slot cuts, and no bows which was better than the previous 2 days so think we hit it during a little off kilter time, but it was getting better each day.

We too plan to hit Willard on Tuesday AM (N Marina). Hopefully ahead of the forecasted rains that are supposed to arrive in the afternoon. If you have radio we'll give you a shout - otherwise maybe we'll just pass one another as we troll around. Gray/white Hewescraft, gray bimini top. We'll likely also have planer boards out.

Roger that on the rain - hope it holds off for awhile....We'll be launching at So. Marina, but be looking for ya....If I can find my radio I'll bring one...You talking of the small hand-held FRS type? That's all I have, but they have good 25 mile open range effect....if that's what you're talking about, and I can find mine, what channel?

we use marine radio and always monitor ch 16 for anyone having emergencies - and if we do make contact with someone just to chat with we move to another channel.

What's your boat look like?

Right now one forecast says AM rain showers while another says PM showers - so who knows... luckily its close enough that you don't feel too bad if you have leave early.
